Do You Want to Know Why Your Business is Not Growing?
Posted on 16 September 2010
In my last post I spoke about Passion, a key ingredient to success and growth. Without it, you will have stagnation. No, that’s not a place, its a way of being, stagnant… No one really wants to be stagnant, me especially.
When I look at my business endeavors, I can see that the areas that are not growing and are stagnant are the areas unattended. Why are they unattended? I am not passionate today about what they will produce.
It’s all very well and fine to say, “YOU NEED PASSION”, but if you don’t know where and how to get it, there is no point to the statement. It will only produce frustration within you. As an entrepreneur, you don’t need more frustration, so here is the WHY and HOW……

Say What?
Unbelief…………. Yes that’s what I said, unbelief.
You don’t believe that what you are doing will give you what you want. It is near impossible to be passionate about something you don’t believe in. On the other hand, belief will drive some to sacrifice their very lives. Where can you get some of this magic belief stuff? Should you go to church, buy it at a market, borrow some from a friend? No, of course not! You can only get it from within. If you ever had belief that what you were doing in your business would get you what you want, it’s still there. No, I don’t know what you want! The question is, did you ever have it?
If you had passion, good news – you can get it back! Just remove all the negativity and judgment you have built up over the last while. Yes, I know this is not a simple task, but your goal is to get back to where you started when you first began your business. Back to that excitement and passion that inspired you to take a risk and start your small business.
You may have learned that some of your perceptions when you started were incorrect, notice I said “some”. If not all of the reasons that inspired you to start your small business are not accurate or real, that’s OK, focus on the ones that are. When you do this, two things will happen: 1. your passion will return, 2. you will find more reasons to replace the ones you lost.
The biggest precursor to no growth is, “I can’t” or “I don’t know how”. Both add up to the same result and both are statements of unbelief. So drop these words from your vocabulary and replace them with, “I will find out” and “there has to be a way”.
There is one more thing….if you remove all the circumstances and still find there is no passion for your business, then sell it and find your passion. Don’t wait, don’t hold on hoping to find your muse. Just let it go.
The only business you should be in is one that inspires you to grow, stretch and push yourself beyond what you think you can do. Take a day off, go for a long walk, recall what your inspiration was, grab it, hang on tight and go for the ride of your life!
On your team,
