Is this blog about Philosophy or Business?
Posted on 04 November 2010
You may be thinking, come on Vince and Mark, you two are supposed to be giving us business tips and advice. What about ideas on how to increase profits, where are they? Well….? We’ve been doing that. It doesn’t always come out looking like advice about the nuts and bolts of how to increase your profit.
Why not? Because in our combined 30 years of entrepreneurial experience, it is not always the “WHAT” you do, more often it’s the “HOW” of your attitude behind it. How you view your business and your personal potential is more important than the what you do. Sounds crazy, right? How about this for crazy:
Did you know that the difference between monkey’s and humans DNA is about 1.5%. Not much, but what a difference 1.5% makes for potential. What if you sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii and your compass was off by 1.5%? There is no way you could get there. In fact, you would miss it entirely.
What if your belief in the market potential of your product or service changed by 1.5%? What if you increased your sales by 1.5%? For many businesses this is just not realistic, the market is saturated with competitors and your sales have been static for years. Just holding on to what you have is very tough. Or is that just what you believe?
So lets take our 1.5% and decide to believe in your potential for success just a little bit more……Change your mind just a little bit, not about “EVERYTHING”, just one thing like “if more customers knew about me, I could grow”, or “my business can grow in a tough economy”.
Just changing your mind with these thoughts changes everything. It will automatically shift your focus from whatever your limiting thoughts were to the question of “HOW can I increase my business?” Just a little bit……. is all it takes to start you on the road to success.
What am I really saying? YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT GROWING BECAUSE OF YOUR BELIEFS. Change them, just a little bit, not to much. Maybe just 1.5%. Pick one belief that limits your thoughts and put it into the trashcan, replace it with a new one and then watch your business grow. Go ahead try it, I dare you…..
On your team,
Mark
