Has Technology Solved all Your Accounting Problems? Not Yet!

With low cost computers and competition bringing software costs down, bookkeeping is costing less and less.  Efficiency is created with smart systems that already know what you want to achieve and help you get there.  Is that enough? Can we say we have arrived? NO, definitely not!

The computer in business has created productivity and efficiency in most small business accounting and bookkeeping practices, but it has also created some inefficiency too!  You must think I am mad, I mean how can software and computers create inefficiency?

Just think of your last year end preparation for tax time.  Was it a simple process? Did your accountant have to come out and spend hours at your business? Did they request countless documents to be able to complete your year end financial statements?  Well, of course they did.  Now that sounds inefficient and expensive to me. How about you?

Why don’t big companies have this issue, or do they?  Large companies have in-house accountants who work on the same accounting software as the bookkeeper.  They have access to all the documents used to create the records and they have “proximity” access to the bookkeeper.  Great system but not practical for every small business to hire a full time accountant.

Don't keep your money in a pig.

Save Money...Use Technology

So what can you do?  Simple! Work with an accountant that offers a service that allows you and them to work on the same software at the same time.  How do you do that? Again simple! Through the internet, you both can connect to online software or a remote  server and have simultaneous access. Problems can be solved instantly, information can be clarified quickly and your year end cost goes down.

But wait… doesn’t that cost a lot of money? Not anymore. Go online and search for accountants who use this system. More and more are adopting this model so they can be competitive.  Is your accountant competitive?
